What are the career options after MA Economics?
After completing MA Economics, there are ample opportunities. If one wishes, one can go to academia and if one wants to pursue, there are ample opportunities in industry.
Academia – Pursue PhD in Economics, Operations Research, Finance or any other related field.
Teaching – Be a lecturer of Economics in any college. You need to pass NET to apply for the permanent post.
Industry – Excellent options in analytics, banking, consultancy and marketing.
Apart from the above, one can opt for Journalism and public policy making as well.
Can I take a look at previous year question papers?
Refer Lessons page of our website for some of the past year exam papers. Some question papers can also be procured from the photocopy shop at Delhi School of Economics. For other exams you may get it from the respective institute.

I have a background in Mathematics or Engineering. Can I try?
For MA admission cum scholarship exam for Delhi School of Economics there are two options. The admission-cum-scholarship test paper contains TWO question papers termed as Option A and Option B. Candidates are free to choose any one option.
The question paper under Option A is more suitable for candidates who have studied Economics/Commerce at the undergraduate level.
The question paper under Option B is more suitable for candidates who have studied Mathematics in their undergraduate studies.
Major topics in Option B are Real analysis, Probability Theory, Differential Equations, Matrices, Linear Transformations and Statistics
I completed BA sometime back, how should I prepare?
Brush up your concepts first, then refer your textbooks for Micro, Macro in BA and you would be fine. Solve lots of problems – Practice problems from the text book, and complete the past examination papers.
Currently I am in BA first year/second year. How should I go about preparing for MA Economics?
There is no substitute for hard work and consistency. If you are in first/second year do your courses properly and solve lots of problems – that's the best way to prepare for exam.
What are the tuition fees for MA Economics in various institutes like DSE?
The tuition fee for MA Economics in almost all institutes is less than Rs. 10,000/- per annum.
What are the examination timelines and from when are the forms made available?

Delhi School of Economics: Exam date is in around Last week of June. Forms are out in second week of May.·
Indian Statistical Institute/JNU/IGIDR: Exam date is generally in First/Second week of May.
Forms are out generally starting first week of February for all three institutions.
Am I eligible? Can I hope to get into MA Economics?
BA/MA/BTech/BSc/BCOM/MCOM or equivalent degree is required from a recognized university with a minimum %age marks (different for different pre-requisite courses, generally >50%) is required.

There are people who have successfully written the exam without studying even a single day for the exam. And there are people who have not done so even with one or more years of preparation. It depends on your fundamentals. So, I won't be able to tell you that whether you are going to make it or not. But i would advice you to do the basic problems, try out past year papers and believe in yourself.
